CD • James Holden - The idiots are winning [14BC] UK

Rythmic hypnotic unpleasant minimalistic electronica.

UK-based producer who has gained substantial fame for his tireless remixing and his instantly-recognizable ethereal progressive house style with a very apparent attention to detail. He garnered instant fame in 1999 with the release of his first 12", "Horizons / Pacific" on Silver Planet. "Horizons" was licensed to INCredible and became one of the biggest surprise hits of 1999. At the time James was only 19. He has since followed up with a handful of original productions, a slew of highly-regarded remixes, a pair of mix albums, and successful collaborations with Ben Pound and Van Bellen. In 2003, "Horizons" was eclipsed by the runaway popularity of "Nothing" Holden & Thompson and "A Break In The Clouds" (the first release on his own label Border Community). In 2006 he remixed Depeche Mode's The Darkest Star

CD - Pluxus - Solid State [CDPLU7] SWE

Release date: 2006-11-29
Design: Konst & Teknik & Daniel Norrby

Pluxus -- Sebastian Tesch, Adam Kammerland and Anders Ekert -- are true pioneers in the Swedish music scene. They came from a traditional background but quickly realized that guitars weren't as much fun as old synthesizers and machines. They soon developed their own unique sound using vintage synthesizers, samples, computers and other machines. Their first release was almost 10 years ago and have, to this date, released 4 CDs, a couple of EPs and a series of remixes and single tracks that have popped up here and there. The new album "Solid State" was released in late 2006 and shows a new, darker but also more club inspired direction of Pluxus' music.

"Pop music is for sheep and we are shepherds disguised as wolves".

'Volk', meaning “people” (i.e. people as a nation), is a collection of interpretations of national anthems and includes the national anthem for NSK, the State in time without territory and national boundaries which Laibach have been linked with since its formation in 1992.

This grand project sees a Laibach utilising new sonic avenues previously uncharted by the band, but with a result that is Laibach to the core. On 'Volk', the band comment on pop culture, the national anthem is surely the perfect pop song, and each of the tracks is based on and inspired by an original anthem. The opening track, 'Germania' uses 'Das Lied der Deutschen', originally written in 1797 and used after World War I as the national anthem of the German Empire at the time of the Weimar Republic, and reinterprets it while the single, 'Anglia', uses John Bull’s 'God Save The Queen' as its inspiration and the result is something quite, quite different. The tracks are mostly sung in English and each anthem has a guest singer, often singing in their native language.

On this album, Laibach have uncovered a common ground linking the nations, a shared patriotic sentiment based around the bloody and violent foundations of nation which here, can be heard in the lyrics and pomp of the largely hymnal tracks. By reinterpreting the music and translating the lyrics of each anthem, the band have not only shown us this common ground, they have also offered up a very pertinent comment on today’s political situation and a warning for future generations.

They are beautiful, they are only pressed in 10.000 copies each, you really never want to play them because the quality of picture discs in general is really terrible.

But that doesn't matter. What matters is the following:

When the singles was released, they were released together with all the other formats as normal standard: a bunch of cd-singles with different mixes, 12" singles for the vinyl lovers etc. But with one exception. Precious was never released as a 7" at the same time as it's other formats. Precious is a product of a petition started by hard core dm-collectors who demanded a picture disc to go hand in hand with the other single releases from Playing The Angel. Finally the shouts made it's way to Mute Records who decided to release it 1 year and 2 month later than it's other formats. For the collectors only. That boys and girls: is pure love.

12" - Depeche Mode - Martyr (PXL12Bong39)

12" - Depeche Mode - Martyr (PXL12Bong39) - Promo
A 1. Just Can't Get Enough - Dirty South Mix 7:46
B 1. Personal Jesus - Timo Maas Remix 7:50

This promo has been so popular it has been bootlegged. If you are a collector and want the real thing, the only that gives away it's a boot is the matrix on the record. The bootlegger has made an incredible job with the lable and it looks pretty much exactly the same.

the real matrix looks like this:
Matrix: A: PXL12BONG39 A1 GRAZZ THE EXCHANGE
Matrix AA: PXL12BONG39 AA1

anything else is a bootleg.

And I can understand why it's been so popular, the JCGE remix kicks ass and personal jesus, will always be personal jesus. It's been rumoured that this 12" will be released commesially. Lets hope for that so people don't have to pay big money for the promos to listen to this great 12".

Thanks to depmod.com for the picture.
