There are many ways one might describe Ah Cama-Sotz. Electronic, ambient, atmospheric, and experimental are just a few. But, the music is more than its sound. It is the mood and emotion the music evokes. Klapholz 's earlier works were quite rhythmic and broke into ritualistic ambient. As the music evolved and changed over time, it continued down its dark path and became even more doomy and haunting. Themes continue to deal with some very heavy issues, and touch on the dark side of mankind. The ugly side of religion, death, plagues and war. It is the stuff mankind is constantly causing and fighting at the same time. Should you choose to listen to Ah Cama-Sotz, rest assured you will find something dark and sometimes sinister waiting for you.

Nitin Sawhney takes his Indian-fusion one step further with HUMAN, infusion copious amounts of British pop-soul with the Eastern vocals. And it's semi-successful, even if it does get a slightly self-indulgent at times ("Eastern Eyes," "Falling," “Rainfall” -- what’s up with all the tracks with “fall” in the title?). But there are also moments of sublime beauty, like on "Say Hello." The more "authentic" Indo-electric compositions like "Heer" work better, in my opinion, than the other hybrids… the Indo-blues of “The River,” for instance. Compare that to the blues-inflections on “Chetan Jeevan.” Still, you can't blame Sawhney for trying... after all, he's only human.

Top off with one of the most haunting vocal samples ever to grace an electronica album. These are long dead ghosts from the past, voices heard in the howling wind, saying 'All too soon, life had passed. Carpe diem, foolish mortal."

This laser disc is the first and only feature-length film about Depeche Mode. Filmed by respected director, D.A. Pennebaker, 101 is considered by many to show Depeche Mode at it most widly accepted point, stuffing 70,000 fans into the Rose Bowl in California.

The following appears on the sleeve:

A film about music, about those who sell it and those who buy it. Those who direct it and those who write and perform it. Those who just listen and those who listen and never forget. Master and servant. But which is which...

The new music. Four young Englishmen. Friends who have grown up together. The began with keyboards and a tape recorder because drums made too much noise around the house. No manager (they do that themselves) and no contract with their record company (MUTE. just a handshake).

Concert tour. Surrounded by a buccaneer crew of British and Anzak technicians, three forty-foot semis and equipment that belongs on a launch pad, they range across the landscape, setting up and striking week after week, city after city. Up by afternoon and out by dawn. Not even time for a soundcheck.

Engulfed by seas of fans, who slip through cracks in the wall and haunt them backstage, youthful Americans who will soon inherit this landscape. And close behind a special bus full of fans, winners in a be-in-a-Depeche-Mode-movie-contest trying to catch up with their idols. (They did finally at Tempe, Arizona, only to lose their way to the concert and miss them after all.) At the tour's end (the hundred and first concert) nearly seventy thousand fill the Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena, California to watch a spectacle of lights and music performed by four friends, on three keyboards and vocal mic...and a tape recorder.

And now it's a film. I don't think it's a documentary although it's about real people in real life. It's certainly not an acted film, although between the band performing onstage and the busload of youthful fans from New York crossing the country for the first time, there is in it every sort of performance you could imagine, from discovering the infidelity of a girlfriend to becoming a part of the giant audience at Pasadena. If I had to call it by any other name than a movie I would say it was a musical adventure, perhaps even a musical fantasy. It's not exactly what happened (no one can ever know exactly what happened no matter how hard they work at it), but it is a kind of fragmented, simultaneous vision of the lives of its participants, layer like the music it's set to, with what was funny and what mattered.

For me it remains a dream memory, gone and over now but still visible like a fly in amber for all time.

101 was widly released after its theatrical run. The chapters listed above only vaugely reflect the contents of the film. Most of the time, the songs that are listed above are simply the background music to the events occuring within the film. The Japanese version of the laser disc apparently included some inserts and lyrics. The laser disc was released in the US and in Japan.

Devo (pronounced DEE-vo or dee-VO, often spelled "DEVO" or "DEV-O") is an American New Wave group, formed in Akron, Ohio in 1972. They are best known for their 1980 hit "Whip It", which made it to #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Their style has been variously classified as punk, art rock and post-punk, but they are most often remembered for their late 1970s and early 1980s New Wave sound which, along with others (such as Gary Numan, Joy Division, Peter Gabriel, and The B-52's) ushered in the synth pop sound of the 1980s.

Devo's music and stage show mingle kitsch science fiction themes, deadpan surrealist humor, and mordantly satirical social commentary via sometimes-discordant pop songs that often feature unusual synthetic instrumentation and time signatures, and their work has proved hugely influential on subsequent popular music, particularly New Wave and alternative rock artists.

Precious (Motor remix)

"Precious" is Depeche Mode's forty-first single, and the first single from the album Playing the Angel. It was released on October 3, 2005 in the UK by Mute Records and October 11, 2005 in the US by Sire/Reprise. The single reached #4 in the UK, #71 on the Hot 100, and #23 on the US Modern Rock Tracks chart.

It was the band's first single of original music in more than three years. "Precious" was released to international radio stations and as a digital download on 22 August 2005.

Although the meaning of almost all of Depeche Mode's songs are not revealed (because Martin Gore prefers people to find their own meanings for each song) he made an exception with "Precious", revealing that the song is written about his children and what they must have been going through when he was getting a divorce from their mother.

To accompany the new single and album, a program called the Depeche Mode Receiver was released. The video for "Precious" received its worldwide premiere via this program on 12 September 2005.

An early version of the video (with unfinished rendering and many sketch placeholders) was leaked to the internet long before the song was even out, so most fans were able to listen to Precious about two months ahead of the release. In fact, the Digital Download may not have even been released if not for the leak, which was widespread within days.

The music video for "Precious" features the band performing on an empty, computer-generated cruise ship, before walking out into an alien-looking (also CG) forest. The video was directed by Uwe Flade, who directed the "Enjoy the Silence 04" video. It is streamable for free on the Depeche Mode website in the archives.

"Free" is the B-side to "Precious". It's a techno beat with an old school feel. It was unavailable in the USA, aside from importing, but is now available on iTunes. It also appears as a bonus track on the Japanese version of Playing the Angel. There is no remix of the song, aside from an acoustic "Bare" version that was heard at the Touring the Angel press conference, as shown on the Playing the Angel Electronic Press Kit, however the full/stand-alone version is not available for download or purchase at this time.

"Precious" was also featured in Smallville's fifth season premiere episode. The song was also played during episodes of the TV shows Bones, Charmed and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation

Trance act Blank & Jones remixed the single though their production has yet to be released. However, they have played their remix out during their live DJ sets.
