Precious (single version):

Precious (Motor remix)

"Precious" is Depeche Mode's forty-first single, and the first single from the album Playing the Angel. It was released on October 3, 2005 in the UK by Mute Records and October 11, 2005 in the US by Sire/Reprise. The single reached #4 in the UK, #71 on the Hot 100, and #23 on the US Modern Rock Tracks chart.

It was the band's first single of original music in more than three years. "Precious" was released to international radio stations and as a digital download on 22 August 2005.

Although the meaning of almost all of Depeche Mode's songs are not revealed (because Martin Gore prefers people to find their own meanings for each song) he made an exception with "Precious", revealing that the song is written about his children and what they must have been going through when he was getting a divorce from their mother.

To accompany the new single and album, a program called the Depeche Mode Receiver was released. The video for "Precious" received its worldwide premiere via this program on 12 September 2005.

An early version of the video (with unfinished rendering and many sketch placeholders) was leaked to the internet long before the song was even out, so most fans were able to listen to Precious about two months ahead of the release. In fact, the Digital Download may not have even been released if not for the leak, which was widespread within days.

The music video for "Precious" features the band performing on an empty, computer-generated cruise ship, before walking out into an alien-looking (also CG) forest. The video was directed by Uwe Flade, who directed the "Enjoy the Silence 04" video. It is streamable for free on the Depeche Mode website in the archives.

"Free" is the B-side to "Precious". It's a techno beat with an old school feel. It was unavailable in the USA, aside from importing, but is now available on iTunes. It also appears as a bonus track on the Japanese version of Playing the Angel. There is no remix of the song, aside from an acoustic "Bare" version that was heard at the Touring the Angel press conference, as shown on the Playing the Angel Electronic Press Kit, however the full/stand-alone version is not available for download or purchase at this time.

"Precious" was also featured in Smallville's fifth season premiere episode. The song was also played during episodes of the TV shows Bones, Charmed and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation

Trance act Blank & Jones remixed the single though their production has yet to be released. However, they have played their remix out during their live DJ sets.

CDM - Dave Gahan - Kingdom (RCDMUTE393) - UK - Promo - With Pressrelease and Cardboard Sleeve

This is the Radio Promo release of Kingdom. I was lucky to also get hold of the pressrelease.

Kingdom" is the first single to be released from the highly anticipated second solo album, Hourglass, by Depeche Mode lead singer Dave Gahan.

The single is due to be released on October 8, 2007.

Airplay
The song has received increasing airplay on US alternative rock radio throughout the month of September and became one of the 100-most-played modern rock songs in the US in mid-September. Major support has come from WEQX (Albany, New York) and KNRK (Portland, Oregon). In late September 2007, Alt Nation (Sirius Satellite Radio), Ethel (XM Satellite Radio), and KDLD (Los Angeles) have offered airplay to the song. As of late September 2007, the song was receiving airplay from 21 US modern rock stations. By mid-October, the number had grown to 29 stations and the song had become one of the 75-most-played.

Promotion
Jaron Albertine has directed the video for "Kingdom". The single was played on radio stations from August 27, 2007 (2007-08-27), the day the track was available for digital download from iTunes. Clips of the song were first broadcast on Dave's YouTube channel during his 2nd web greeting on the August 21, 2007 (2007-08-21).

7" - Tiny Masters Of Today - Radio Riot (7IRREG12) - UK

1. Radio Riot
2. Point Of View

Radio Riot:

'Radio Riot', the Tiny Masters Of Today's third single, is released on 7” inch vinyl and download and is a taste of what to expect from the band's debut album 'Bang Bang Boom Cake', released in August 2007.

With an average age of 12 and weighing in at a total of 120 lbs, Brooklyn, New York's Tiny Masters of Today are certainly one of the youngest and tiniest bands toughing out the international club scene. Comprised of siblings Ivan (age 13) and Ada (age 11) the pre-teen punk duo have been tearing it up in the UK with two sold-out singles with rave reviews plus BBC and XFM airplay. Their spring UK tour saw them playing to packed houses and magazines from Newsweek (who called their "brief, bratty" songs "remarkable") to Artrocker (who put them on the cover and proclaimed them "the future of rock and roll.") to Guardian, the NME and a host of others have written about the siblings while none other than David Bowie declared their first single “Genius.”

Tiny Masters Of Today's debut album Bang Bang Boom Cake was recorded in New York with production duties handled by legendary Jon Spencer Blues Explosion drummer Russell Simins and the Elegant Too. Simins, who frequently serves as the band's live drummer, plays on most of the album and there are a number of surprise cameos and collaborations brought out of the diverse New York music community Tiny Masters Of Today are growing up in. Kimya Dawson (Moldy Peaches), Fred Schneider (the B-52s) and Gibby Haynes (the Butthole Surfers) amongst others all lend their unique talents.

7" - Tiny Masters Of Today - Hey Mr. DJ (MUTE395) - UK

1. Hey Mr. DJ
2. Hey Mr. DJ (CSS Remix)

Hey Mr. DJ (Live)

vailable on CD, 7" and download, 'Hey Mr DJ' is a gritty and funky call to arms, a demand for equal access to the airwaves with the plea, "Hey, Mr. DJ, Turn up the music." On board to spice things up are Brazilian punk/funk sensations Cansei de ser Sexy (CSS) and label mates Liars, both with brilliant remixes of the title track.

The pairing of CSS and Tiny Masters Of Today is a typically improbable one, the bands have never met in real life but became friends via MySpace, corresponding for over a year before finally coming up with an appropriate project to collaborate on.

Adriano Cintra from CSS explains, "I first heard of Tiny Masters on MySpace. I got really crazy about them, I wanted to have younger brother and sister like them. Kinda of, hey, let's make party songs for when we get older... now I am older and I'm glad I got Tiny Masters as friends!"

The remix strips away the fuzz guitar stomp and re-invents the song as an electro-pop classic that you can imagine hearing blaring from boomboxes and car stereos... on other planets.

Label mates Liars take a more deconstructionist approach, creating a hypnotic and apocalyptic dub soundscape that is, frankly, kind of scary. In retribution, Tiny Masters of Today took a crack at remixing "Clear Island" from Liars' new album, the "Tiny Liars of Today" mix will appear the next Liars single release.

Debut Tiny Masters of Today album ‘Bang Bang Boom Cake' was recorded in New York with production duties handled by legendary Jon Spencer Blues Explosion drummer Russell Simins and the Elegant Too. Simins, who is also the band's live drummer, plays on most of the album alongside a number of artists from the diverse New York music community such as Kimya Dawson (Moldy Peaches), Fred Schneider (the B-52s), Gibby Haynes (the Butthole Surfers) and Karen O (Yeah Yeah Yeahs).

7" - Der Blutharsch - The Philisopher's Stone (WKN29) Wir Kapitulieren Niemals

Limited to 666 copies. When ordering directly from derblutharsch.com along came three postcards (1. Bandphoto, 2. Philisopher's stone, 3. Promocard for Hinoeuma The Malediction.).

A Untitled
B Untitled

Postcard:

Der Blutharsch is the main project of Austrian musician Albin Julius. Following in the footsteps of Autopsia and Laibach, Julius creates a marching music of bombastic rhythms and folkish melodies, often infused with historical military speeches and orchestral samples. The earlier works tended towards a minimalistic sample-based instrumental style in an industrial/ambient vein, while more recent material has headed into a folk/acoustic sound, often accompanied with live vocals and instruments.

Der Blutharsch's first release was a self-titled picture LP released in late 1996 on the Arthur's Round Table label, but the project didn't became Julius' main musical outlet until 1998 after the break-up of his previous band The Moon Lay Hidden Beneath A Cloud. The first CD album "Der Sieg des Lichtes Ist des Lebens Heil" was released that year, followed by a series of limited EP's, before the release of the masterpiece "The Pleasures Received In Pain" in 1999.

Almost all of the bands releases are through Julius' personal austrian-based label "WKN" ("Wir Kapitulieren Niemals"), which was distributed by World Serpent UK until 2000, when it switched to Tesco Distribution in Germany. Since 2001 various musicians have acted as part of the band, but Albin Julius currently claims Der Blutharsch to have four permanent members: Marthynna, Jörg B. (of Graumadh), Bain Wolfkind (of Novo Homo) and himself.

2xCD - Fatboy Slim - The Greatest Hits Remixed (Brassic52CDX) UK

Not simply a DJ, Norman Cook has surpassed this role as a producer whilst using one of many aliases; the chief one being this one, Fatboy Slim.
Many UK DJ's have managed to crossover to a large extent in the US and beyond, however Norman Cook, under alias Fatboy Slim, has done much more than this.
Rather than being a faceless behind the decks head-down DJ, Norman's exuberant character whilst performing on the decks simply takes any audience with him.

His devotion to his chosen place of residence, Brighton, is also famous. Despite massive pressure to go wholly with a major label, he continues to stick with his original Brighton-based label Skint Records. He also has put-on two massive free beach parties on Brighton beach, as a thanks to the love & respect fellow residents of the city have given him.
On New Years Day 2007, he will hold another beach event. Whilst it has been forced to be scaled down and ticketed --due to Brighton City Council's heath & safety concerns-- this event shows his devotion to Brighton remains undiminished.

---

On April 22, 2007, Wilder released a statement on his MySpace page that the new album would be entitled subHuman and has been provisionally set for release on July 9th, 2007. Included as guest vocalists this time are Carla Trevaskis and Joe Richardson, the latter will also deliver the vocals for a track titled "Prey" which is believed to feature on the first single taken from "subHuman". A sample from the song was also put on Recoil's MySpace page. 2007 also saw the re-release of Bloodline (originally released in 1991) and Hydrology Plus 1+2 (originally released in 1988).

Out on June 27th via iTunes and related download portals is "Prey", the newest single from Recoil. iTunes also prepared a special Recoil pack (similar to the Depeche Mode iTunes pack) holding all Recoil releases. It will be the first time that all the Recoil material is available via iTunes. The packet doesn't hold exclusives but does come in the DRM free high download quality version.

A special download-only remix of subHuman track "Killing Ground" by The Slips was released on October 1, 2007 (2007-10-01) on The Slips' MySpace page. The news also got out Alan Wilder was to start work on a new album pretty soon.
