1. The Sound Of Defekt Skulls And Intense Cranium Contact (Feedbacking Gothenburg And Chicago) (43:17)

The Skull Defekts, represented by Henrik Rylander and Joachim Nordwall, were invited in late September 2006 by the Chicago non-profit organization Lampo to make their U.S. debut. With them they brought recorded sounds from their home on the Swedish west-coast Gothenburg. A city breathing culture, it is also Sweden's most important export harbor. While spending close to a week in Chicago, Rylander and Nordwall carefully prepared a piece to be presented on the Lampo event on September 30th. The duo recorded more sounds, searched for the Skull sound of Chicago, and found inspiration from the city itself and the people they met. They traveled with ten mixing desks and Nordwall's custom Drone Machine, ready to complete the project with sharp psychedelic & analog noise treatments. They also investigated the CM von Hausswolff "There Are No Crows Flying Around The Hancock Building" thesis. A crow was found below the building, it did not seem to be able to fly. The Skull Defekts recorded it while it was playing and testing it's wings in a nearby park. When the Skulls left, the crow was still on the ground.

Leif Elggren
Leif Elggren was born 1950 in Linkoping, Sweden and currently lives in Stockholm, Sweden. He is a visual artist and a recording artist.

His work has been shown in Venice (Nordic Pavilion, Biennale di Venezia 2001), Stockholm (Fargfabriken), Berlin (Podevil), Johannesburg (2nd Biennial), Siena (Palazzo delle Papesse), Tokyo, Osaka, Marugame, Gothenburg, Los Angeles etc.

His music has been released through labels such as Ash International (London), Firework Edition Records (Stockholm), Anckarström Stockholm), Meeuw (Amsterdam) and Insofar Vapour Bulk (Moscow). Over the years, he has collaborated with artists such as Thomas Liljenberg (Firework), Kent Tankred (Guds Söner), and Erik Pauser.

On the 27th of May 1992 at 12 noon GMT, alongside Carl Michael Von Hausswolff, he proclaimed the Kingdom of Elgaland-Vargaland, a new country established as a work of art.

Avant-garde tabletop guitarist Kevin Drumm was born and raised in 1970 in South Holland, IL, playing in a handful of rock bands before relocating to Chicago in 1991 to work at the city's Board of Trade. He soon began his experiments with prepared guitar, applying objects including magnets, binder clips, chains, a violin bow and even toenail clippers to distort the instrument's sound; in time Drumm befriended a number of members of Chicago's growing improv community, including Jim O'Rourke (with whom he served in Brise-Glace, additionally contributing to Gastr del Sol's Upgrade and Afterlife album and Ken Vandermark. In late 1997 Drumm made his solo debut with a self-titled (Perdition Plastics) and has released superb duo records with Taku Sugimoto (Sonoris), Axel Dörner, Martin Tètreault (both Erstwhile) and Ralf Wehowsky (Selektion).
His chameleon-like presence has been documented on a number of projects, each revealing new facets of his wide-ranging and unique talents on both guitar and electronics. Drumm seamlessly melds the worlds of acoustic and electronic sound, occasionally teetering on the edge of silence, yet always remaining impeccably musical.
Kevin Drumm has recorded and performed with Phill Niblock, Tony Conrad, Jim O'Rourke, MIMEO, Mats Gustafsson, John Butcher, Thomas Ankersmit, Taku Sugimoto and many others.

CD - Schneider TM - Škoda Mluvit (SLANG 1038622P) GER - Promo

Schneider TM is the name used for the solo electronic music projects of Dirk Dresselhaus, a former rhythm-section member for several German indie rock bands. He released his first single under this name in 1997, but his most notable piece to date was a track named "The Light 3000" on the 2000 EP Binokular (a collaborative EP with KPT.michi.gan). The track is an electronic music cover of "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out" by the Smiths and was recently voted by Wire Magazine as one of the best cover versions ever recorded.

In May of 2006 "Škoda Mluvit" was released and contains the single "pac man / shopping cart."

Audio Bullys are an electronic music group from the UK - Simon Franks and Tom Dinsdale.

They reached number 3 in the UK charts with their 2005 hit, "Shot You Down", which samples the Nancy Sinatra version of the song "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)". The song was also featured on the 2005 CBS telecast of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, headlined by Tyra Banks and Naomi Campbell. The group worked with Suggs of Madness collaborating on the track "This Road" taken from "Generation."

CD - Whale - All Disco Dance Must End In Broken Bones (CDPHUT 52) EU - Promo

This is the promo release of Whale's last album.

Whale is:

Whale was originally started with the intention of recording just one song for fun. Schyffert was the producer of a Swedish pop music show, and invited Cia to host. The two got together with bassist Gordon Cyrus and recorded "Hobo Humpin' Slobo Babe". The song spurned a video became a hit on MTV, which spurned an album, and a tour, and finally a full fledged band.

The album, "We Care", is guitar-laden trip-hop album with a few solid songs, including one with guest vocals from Tricky, but on the whole, it's an inconsistent, average album.

Three years later, with three new band members (Cyrus left to start his own record label), the band grew out of its adolescence and instead focused on writing solid material. The result was 1998's All Disco Dance Must End In Broken Bones. Though still a bit uneven, the album is full of infectious grooves, trippy sampling, and clever lyrics.

The band is definitely rooted in trip-hop, although they're a little more into guitars and basses than sampling and synthesizers. The closest comparison I can give is Portishead, although I think Portishead fans would probably be insulted by this comparison. OK, take a trip-hop band with a female lead singer who sounds like a happy, upbeat Beth Gibbons, but isn't as good, and you probably have Whale.

Perhaps the best line about Whale comes from captainspatula, who remarked after listening to a ShoutCast that included Whale, "Whale's weird, I'll be listening and be like hm, this is a cool song, and it's Whale. Then, a little while later, I'll be listening and I'll be like this song is dogshit and, yep, it's Whale." Note that while I don't necessarily agree with this assessment, it speaks to the eclectic sound of the band.

Marsheaux are a female Synthpop duo from Thessaloniki, Greece. Comprising of Marianthi and Sophie, both girls moved to Athens in 2000 and formed the group to further their appreciation of early 1980s electronic music. The name Marsheaux is derived from the first syllable of each girl’s name.

Marsheaux came to national prominence in Greece with their debut single, a darker cover of Hot Butter’s “Popcorn”. The single received extensive air play in Greece and mainland Europe.

Now signed to Record label Undo, Marsheaux released their first full Studio Album “Ebay Queen” in 2004. The Album played heavily on Marsheaux’s stated Influences of The Human League, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark and Depeche Mode. A key element of Marsheaux is that both girls sing exclusively in English, this enabled the marketability of the album in the UK and USA. Ebay Queen was critically well received internationally.

As well as being vocalists both Girls are skilled multi instrumentalists. Marianthi plays MicroKorg, Minimoog, Roland SH101, YAMAHA CS01. Sophie plays MicroKorg, KORG MS 10, Roland aJuno2, AKAI Ax80, ROLAND CR78.

In December 2006 Undo records released Sophie and Marianthi’s follow up Album Peekaboo which is selling world wide but principally in Greece, US and UK.

As well as recording original material Marsheaux specialize in remixing and reengineering existing tracks of artists such as Moby. Both Girls have regular guest DJ slots in Athen’s Clubs.
